You need nothing. We hold the FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, which is the credential that makes commercial drone work legal, and it is ours to maintain, not yours. New Jersey adds a state layer on top of the federal rules, and individual towns add their own ordinances, particularly along the shore. What moves the price is whether it is a licensed operator day on its own or aerial inside a larger production, which is how most of our drone work is booked and quoted. We sit above what a marketplace pilot charges, and deliberately so: the footage is being cut live into a broadcast alongside the ground cameras, not handed over on a card at the end of the day.

Legal, with real restrictions worth knowing before you plan a shoot. Drones are prohibited across every New Jersey State Park Service property, forest and recreation area under N.J.A.C. 7:2-1.4(b), and a commercial operator needs a Special Use Permit to fly there at all. Many shore towns add their own beach and boardwalk ordinances on top. New Jersey also names drones directly in its invasion-of-privacy statute. None of this stops a planned shoot; discovering it on the morning does.

The airspace above a property is federal, so the FAA governs the flight rather than the landowner. That is the legal answer and it is not the practical one. We get permission from the property owner or venue anyway, because a complaint on the day ends the shoot regardless of who was technically right, and because New Jersey's privacy statute applies to what the camera records even when the flight is lawful.

Not sustained, and we will tell you that up front. FAA rules restrict flight over people who are not part of the operation, and the categories depend on aircraft weight and injury risk. In practice we design the flight path to work around the audience rather than above it, which is also better shot design. If your event genuinely needs sustained flight over a crowd, that requires a specific FAA waiver and lead time, and we would rather say so at booking than on the day.

You do not need your own. We carry commercial liability coverage and can issue a certificate of insurance naming your venue as additionally insured, which is what a venue risk manager will ask for. Ask for it early: some venues will not let an aircraft up until the certificate is on file, and that is the single most common reason a drone shoot gets grounded on the day.

Yes. Night operations are permitted under Part 107 with anti-collision lighting visible for three statute miles, which we fly with. The practical limits are what you would expect: less light means a slower aperture and more noise, and obstacle avoidance works less well in the dark, so we fly more conservative paths and plan the shots tighter.

For a standard listing, honestly, less than we charge. Listing media companies price aerials as a cheap add-on to an interior photography package, and they can do that because the drone is one product of five on the same visit. We are not the right call for a typical listing. Where we do fit is waterfront, estate, acreage, land and commercial development sites, where the aerial is the primary asset rather than the upsell.

Yes. The aerial lands in the switcher next to the ground cameras and the director cuts to it in real time. That's the difference between our drone work and footage delivered after the fact.

The drone stays down. Wind and precipitation limits are set in advance and we hold to them without exception. The broadcast plan never depends on the aerial, so a grounded drone means a missing garnish, not a broken show.

Sometimes, for specific venues and shots, and only after a real safety review of the space and the crowd. Indoor aerials are a case-by-case conversation, and no is a possible answer.

Our drone work exists to serve live broadcasts, and that's where it's strongest. For aerial-only capture we'll talk it through honestly; if a videography drone operator serves you better, we'll say so.
